I Was Think Of Altering My Ibanez... Please Give Me Feedback!, I would change it from H-S-H tp H-H-H

I never liked the single-coil, so I thought about having a tech open up the whole to fit a third humbucker. It looks like there is ample room between the bridge and neck pickups. I think this would give me more usable tones (for metal and shred) and would be unique. I was thinking about triple EMGs. I am really looking for thoughts about the mod itself, but opinions on pickups are welcome too. P.S. I trust this tech as he works on all of Joe Satriani's guitars. I'm completely serious. I've had a guitar with the 81/85 combo in it, but later swapped the 85 for a 60. Those pickups smoke for metal, I loved the saturated, tight, punchy tone that it had with tons of gain. But it just didn't do it for me on the clean channel, and at lower gain levels, I just couldn't get the dynamics I wanted out of it. This is my personal opinion though, I know lots of great players with killer tone that love em. I also couldn't get as many tones out of the 2 EMGs as I could with 1 passive, so I wouldn't recommend putting 3 in one guitar, but I've never tried it, it might make the guitar a real fire breather! I guess I'm just a passive guy, if I was in your position, I'd put a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck position, an X2N in the bridge, and remove the middle completely. I was thinking of Seymour Duncans, maybe Dimebucker-Hot rails (assuming I don't put a hum in the mid)-'59. Thoughts? The X2N is most famously used by Chuck Schulinder of Death(RIP), an incredible rythem and lead guitar player, I loved his tone. John Petrucci also uses Dimarzios. I own a mahogany les paul style guitar with a Duncan Custom pickup in it, it sounds great for low tuning(I tune that guitar to standard D and drop C) and it sounds great, nice tight and chunky bottom end, with screaming highs! The highs sound great for aggresive soloing! My only complaint is that when my guitar is tuned to standard E, the middle notes have this slight nasal sound, it could just be my guitar, but I just like the great sounding mids that Dimarzios have. But I do agree that not many metal players choose Dimarzio, I think that it's because metal players usually like to "scoop" thier mids(like have highs on 10, lows on 10, and mids on 5) for the clear sound it provides, and Seymour Duncans have that scooped sound(except for maybe the JB), Dimarzios tend to push thier mids, witch gives them a louder more smooth sound. I prefer more mids because it gives me more growl and punch. It's really just personal preferance though, any of the well known pickup brands will give you a pretty good sound. I personally think that a Dimebucker-Hot Rails-59 mix would be very versatile combo I would like, but don't take my word for it, if you can find a guitar with EMGs, and a guitar with SDs and try them both it will give you a good idea of what you'll be getting.
