It's not VOS. It's a basic LP Standard.

Andrew just be ready on Christmas eve when Santa asks you to get up and guide his sleigh. I know it will seem rough at the time but don't forget that the next day you will be invited to play in the reindeer games.

Wow, Thats a beautiful lady. How is your back, I'm sure you haven't put it down yet. 10 lbs takes a little while to get used, to but I'm sure you will manage. Great Choice, Good Luck.

You know, seeing as you just picked it up, I 've been wanting to ask. When I bought my Les Paul, I thought that the neck had a sort of waxy feel to it, like it had a tendency to make my hand feel a little drag as I moved up and down the neck. I called Gibson, they seemed shocked, told me to try a commercially available polish, it didn't change things, It must be the laquer. I sometimes sit in front of my TV stroking the neck with a clean cloth baby diaper trying to simulate a little more wear. Still feels the same. I would be interested in your initial opinion.

I didn't notice the neck was too different in surface feel from my Ibanez. Although I would say the the high gloss back of the neck might cause a little drag. It certainly is not as fast as the satin feel of my RG.

Beautiful guitar, Lps are awesome.

I have a question though: I hear you guys speaking of AA and AAA tops, and I see that in LPs specs they always put a number of As, between 2 and 4 As, when they explain the kind of top of each guitar.

What do those "As" mean? I guess it has something to do with the quality, but how exactly?

I noticed the same thing on gibsons, the lacquered neck because of the high gloss does seem to drag. It's even worse on Epi's. the back of my DV8-R is painted/lacquered but I can move the same as I can on my RG/S.

QUOTE (Maximus @ Dec 19 2007, 02:58 AM) *
After a very long search I finally found the guitar I have been looking for. I made a detour while coming home from a business trip today and decided to check out a Guitar Center that I knew was just off the route I was traveling. I had been looking for the better part of a year to find a Les Paul Standard. I knew I wanted either a Heritage Cherrry Sunburst or a DesertBurst but I wanted to find that perfect specimen that had the perfect flame top. I walked in and there it was. When I asked the tech to take it down for me he told me that another guy who worked at the store was going to buy it this evening when he came in for his shift. The rest is history. I walked out the proud owner of a 2007 Les Paul Standard. Here she is:

nice looking guitar man!!congrats!! biggrin.gif

It pertains to the extent of the "figuring/flaming" you see. It's essentially a cosmetic thing. I don't know what criteria they use to measure this because I have seen a wide range of appearances for any given grade. That's why it is so important to see these in person when you buy one. If you order from a catalog you are at the mercy of the guy who plucks the box off the shelf. That's why I waited so long. I knew If I waited I'd eventually find one that looked more like a AAA than an AA.

Oh it's a beauty Maximus!
It's great when you just 'know' that it is the guitar for you - that happened with my LP (Standard honeyburst)
and I was so happy to finally have found it.
I have a few guitars and the LP is the one that I use a great deal as I like the feel and the sound is so swearword good laugh.gif
I don't normally like like the overly dramatic figured caps but yours looks particularly tasteful.
I haven't found the nitro finish to be overly delicate myself yet (only had this guitar a year and a half) and it did stand up well to a recent accident. A friends guitar fell from where he precariously had left it rolleyes.gif and it bopped my LP(which was in its stand) as it went down, got all the strings ringing in alarm laugh.gif laugh.gif mad.gif
but when I checked it for damage only a very tiny ding, almost undetectable biggrin.gif
It had got quite a whack so I was very pleased.

You inspired me, I just ordered a Gibson Les Paul Standard in Latte Cream, it gets here on Monday.

Funny thing is, they sold me a New unused one in Latte Cream and matched the price of a Desert Burst Blem for $1699.

I love the Desert Burst, but for that kind of $$$ I did not want to take the chance with a Blem.

Now I just hope I like the Burstbuckers as much as the 490/498s on my Studio????
