I just wanted to say hi to everyone and say a little about myself. I'm a biologist who has been playing guitar for 17 years. There has been a lot of "down time" with respect to my playing and practicing as it is not my profession and there were a few years here and there where not much playing got done at all. Nonetheless, coming here has really reminded me of how much I enjoy quality guitar playing. It has also really emphasized how bad, or rather, how unpracticed I am... and it's time that this changed!

I was immediately impressed by this site for a few reasons:

1) very good players (talent and HARD WORK) tongue.gif
2) intelligent conversations
3) well thought out design and delivery
4) respect and manners

Well, obviously I was sold because here I am. Also, given that I have just bought myself basically my entire dream rig (maybe a few bits left to buy wink.gif), I figure it's time to start justifying the money spent, and get down to some SERIOUS practicing. Frankly, my playing ability is not worthy of the equipment I have, but hopefully with some help from you guys that will change too.

Cheers,

A.

Welcome Xethman! You have found a great place to rekindle your passion for playing, that is for sure. I had barely touched my guitar in years before I found this site, and now I can't put it down laugh.gif

Yes, a B.Sc. degree is pretty much the minimum. With diplomas one generally works as a technician. But there is much variability in this.
