Just wondering, how do you create your GP5 files?

Do you use a MIDI keyboard and play straight into GP5? Or create the MIDI elsewhere and import or something?

I was looking at the Canon lesson you did (amazing, might i add..) and that ending sequence had some quite confusing note duration values, i thought that things like that would be pretty hard to put into GP5 manually just pointing and clicking on notes. Also phrasing would be prety tough to just point and click (i think anyway).

So if you use a MIDI keyboard for this, do you find it difficult? Can it be hard translating your guitar licks over?
And i'm guessing you slow down GP5 alot while you input?

I actually write notes without any Midi input.
Yeah,I know,hard job,call me silly

by the way i also do the same thing ... how can you register a midi with guitar ?!! except if you buy special mics wich is expensive .. i prefer the old way too .. even if sometimes .. it can take quite time

Not at all,I do it in real tempo,you just have to know what you've played,
after that writing isn't THAT hard

GP5 doesn't have midi input that i know

That is insane. I find it near impossible to translate my phrasing on guitar onto GP5. You are a master of transcribing it seems Is there anything in particular you practised to develop such a good rhythmic understanding? Just transcribing over and over and over and over?

mmmh it's pretty useless, you can input notes, but it doesn't recognize pitches

Well, that would probably help out my uselessness at transcribing rhythms though. Cheers for testing it out.

Actually I find GP5 a great tool to develop rythm writing, in the sense that you can hear what you write immediately, and adjust the notes till you get your phrase right.

But you've got to do the homework first (rythmic theory!)

Well, I glad to hear this because I was wondering how you did it as well. I knew of no other way than to just tab it out. No importing or anything has ever worked for me.

Before I got GP I had used powertabs for years and these programs teach a ton about timing understanding. It can be tricky to get the timing right but if you just played something. It can be tabbed out.



So Muris, do you tab as you go or tab when the lesson/riff is done?

I find I get more done, in the long run if, If tab as I go and can fix timing problems as they appear.

Well,I tab when I figure out 100% what is it that I'm going to play/record in a lesson.
Doing anything in advance and that changing things is just waste of time inho.
