Hello Gmc'ers!

I have a gear question:
I've been interested in 12-string guitars for nearly half a year now, and I feel that now is the right time to buy one. One problem though, I dont know which labels are good when it comes to my budget (which isn't sky high, i tell you that) I've seen some really cheap models of the label Harley Benton. Are they any good? I found one really interesting Fender 12string acoustic, but do they make great acoustics aswell? Surely Fender would not give name to something bad? Please give some gear advice!

And thanks alot biggrin.gif!

Here is the page I am browsing:

This is the one i might just buy:

DO NOT BUY ANY HARLEY BENTON EVER!
Cheap as Hell guitars they are cheap copies of cheap copies of real guitars, trust me.

The Fender looks allright but maybe you want to spend double or three times of that money and get a good midrange priced 12-string. Quality is the most important factor on an acoustic because you'll instantly hear it.

Hey niko fran

i bought my self a twelve string last year and it is a yamaha wich cost around 4000 danskekroner, and it has a lot of sound realy big and clear the sound on it, and the neck of the guitar is shorter then on regular twelve strings wich make it much stronger when you thing about the tension a twelve string has on the neck. anyways i do not regret buying the guitar coz for me it really is more than enough in greatness:)
I guess the meaning of my reply is that you dont need a fender to get a good acoustic guitar i would rather advice you to try before you buy:) and pick the one that suits you. btw 189 euro is that like 1500-1600 dkr ? sounds a bit too ceap if you want durability and sound. but noneteless good luck on your hunt for a 12 stringed guitar:)

Hi Niko.

I would say to give a try to washburn guitars. They are great and you can find models ranging from entry to top level.
At least, here in Aalborg you can test them in eskildsen. Probably in copenhagen too.

Actually, one very important thing about 12-string guitars is that they tend to have uncomfortable fretboard. I have a 12 string eagle guitar and in the past I had a similar 6-string guitar (which I gave to my brother). The 6 string version is much more comfortable and easy to play. I bought this 12 string because I liked the sound and wanted to have a 12 string one, but I don't really like playing it ...

So my main advice is to get to a guitar shop and see if you feel comfortable with the 12 string.

Laughed at that cheap copies of cheap copies of real guitars xD
I've liked 12 strings for a long time, but just got 2 A+ in my exams (which is called 12 in Denmark) so thought it would be good with a 12 string tongue.gif But I might save up a little then, got 1800 Danish Kroner at the moment, so the Fender would be just in my price range with 1500 DK, but why rush it? Soon getting a summer job anyway, can save up there smile.gif But maybe I'll go for the Fender, I WONT go for a Harley Benton now for sure biggrin.gif

Thanks alot, and yes, it is 1500, nice calculation wink.gif Not sure which one I'll go with yet, but I agree on one thing, 12 string guitars do have some kind of "greatness" upon them... And the ladys really dig em biggrin.gif!

I tried a Dano Electro 12 string in "Musikhuset Aage" (Musichouse Aage) in Copenhagen, and ever since I've loved the 12 strings. The Dano is an electric guitar, and i felt very confortable on that one, I also tried a Acoustic Martin guitar, liked that one aswell, but that costed 10000 danish kroner ohmy.gif But thanks alot Gus, you should try looking for one of the Aage shops, there are 3-4 in Denmark, and they do have very cheap prices and a huge quantity of quality guitars! I hope you enjoy the danish summer, though it must be so much warmer in Brazil tongue.gif

By the way, here is the Dano Electro i tried!

Don't know the budget you have, but generally all 12string'ers are decent enough over 500e. I think that is a relative "magical" limit.

You'll know a good quality acoustic when you take it in your hands and it feels SOFT. That is the right word. Also the sound is suppose to be rich and not in your face, but "somewhere out there" filling the room, if you know what I mean.
