Hey guys, I recently got a new computer and now I can finally RUN modern games on it.
But I read through several recent games reviews, and all say that most games preety much suck
So I was wondering if anyone could suggest me a good recent(2007/2008) game which is worth my money and my time

I recently installed Crazy machines II, it's a nice logical game, but not too difficult, you can try it if you like mate.

My current vice is Diablo 2 its old but its very very good and addicting
diablo 3 is also coming out in the near future and it should be a hit as well. As far as first person shooters i will go with Battlefield 2 by EA it has awsome online modes. As well as Battlefield 1942.. its older but its a classic. Counterstrike Source is a great game as well. The last series ill recommend is the Command and Conquor Series. I rescently bought 12 command and conquor games in a 1 box set for maybe 40$ canadian? It was a bargin and me and my friend havn't really stopped playing. If you want really modern then my only recommendation which has been getting alot of notice is WoW. but i don't touch RPG's unless its diablo so i wont give any advice weather to get it or not

If you really want to test your system, I suggest giving Crysis a go. It came out about a year ago, but is still arguably the most graphically demanding and system draining game on the market.
It got excellent reviews, but I've never played it... I may have a fairly top end laptop for 2008, but it still won't play that game!

Yeah that's a pretty good spec machine. I assume you got it for quite a reasonable price?
I'm looking to upgrade my PC soon. As my current one is maxed out completely and with games such as Far Cry now coming out based on multi-core CPUs I need to upgrade.
Looking at this for around £700:
CPU: AMD Phenom 9950 AM2+ CPU
Cooler: Thermaltake Golden Orb II
Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe (nForce 570 Chipset, SLI, Firewire)
Memory: 4GB DDR2 800mhz (2x 2GB)
Hard Drives: 500GB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 20x DVD±RW DL S-ATA Lightscribe
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit
PSU: 650W Thermaltake Toughpower
Case: Coolermaster Cavalier 3
Warranty: 3 Year Bronze Warranty
not a bad deal, and I can always add another GTX260 a few months down the line.

As a strategy fan:
Warcraft III & Frozen Throne (not 07-08 though)
Supreme Commander & Forged Alliance (!!!)
Sins of a solar empire (!!!)
Civilization IV (!!!)
FPS:
ORANGE BOX!
it has so many awesome games in it, you just have to buy it :b
GARRYS MOD!! it's the best mod for half-life2 ever, if you have any ability of creation, which is pretty likely as we're musicians... just check it's user comments at metacritic:

Civilization is great, but not exactly for showing off your new PC.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned one of the best RTS' ever made, Company of Heroes. A truly amazing game with amazing graphics. Buildings collapse and get holes depending on the place where they were hit and stuff.
