Full Version: What Do You Do To Market Your Band?

I always want to market my band so it would be fun to know what others do to market their band online and offline.

Online Promethic ( my band) is represented here:

myspace
sellaband
soundclick
reverbnation
homepage
We are also represented at various norwegian sites like urørt and have an account at www.taxi.com

Offline we just try to talk to evrybody about what we do and play as much as we can live. And sell as many of our ep's as we can.

Anyone do something more, or different than us?

( And as I already has posted all the links, check us out , buy our EP and add us on myspace or the other sites biggrin.gif )

give your music to indie mags around your country and stuff. What really works, around here anyway, is that free cd's always attracts people to listen to your stuff. Give it to as many people as you can. This will spread your band on a rapid pace.

We have gotten some radio airplay at various underground stations, but we can always do better!

I would add YouTube to that list.
I've found lots of great bands/musicians there!

The best marketing is bombarding the media, primarily TV. Then comes internet and radio. It always works smile.gif

I know, but the amount of money that cost is sadly something we don't have. sad.gif

I think the best bet you can do is try and get signed up to a record label, who will market you and include you in their band list with big(ish)tours.
Failing that a music manager who knows what he or she is doing is another option,if they see you as a great cash cow they will try their hardest to promote you and get you out there making money for all of you

Its too hard to manage and market yourself at the start, unless your in the right location, have lots of venues to play to get a name for your self and of course have some great songs to play.

Once your band gets bigger, and your shows do.it will be easier.

I dont know about you but I havnt got the time to market and manage my band.I do all the recording, mixing and a lot of the writing. If I devoted any more time I wouldnt have a life!Would be burnt out by the whole thing

Get a great sounding demo cd of your best tracks, make sure the jewel case has a pro looking sleave, print on the cd itself-include a band Bio with photos of shows ect,and send it out to local Labels who cater for your musical market. If your good enough they will snap you up,take you under their wing and promote you

Then all you have to do is concentrate on writing more killer tunes and playing gigs while the labels or managers promote you and get you gigs
