Fascinating- thanks!

I have a '92 Strat Plus that I have never liked - it has very little of that strat character and is just a "blech" guitar. I played it for years but never really liked it. I'm thinking that if I replace the lace sensors with some vintage ones, and do a couple of mods like this I may get something that really does sound like a strat!

Cost cutting is a reality in all businesses, and guitar building is no exception, and over the years parts have changed, usually to cheaper versions.

This is so true, and due to mass production they have no time to dry wood naturally, so they do it artificially. The artificially dried wood is also solid and will not be deformed, but it lacks tonal characteristics of naturally dried wood.
