Hey GMC.. I just registered and I'm figuring things out around here. In order for me to use the community to it's maximum potential, what gear recording wise would yall recommend?

Does anyone here post videos of themselves and just have instructors or others critique? If so, what's the lowest price, best deal interface to record said videos with?

Alot of us here use the Logitech 9000pro webcam to record videos wich costs only about 80 euros and gives great video quality!
You can post videos in the uploads board or even into the REC programm where your videos will get rated by instructors, you can find the REC rules in topics in that link.

you will need an audio interface and a webcam to fully be able to record videos. Some additional lightning would be good as well.

I'm not looking to spend too much on recording at this time. Whatever the minimum gear for me to get pretty good sound quality in recording (keep in mind my amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, there's no line out to my knowledge other than the "Preamp out". I'd like to keep it around or under $200 US if possible.

I've been meaning to get a web cam anyways for Skype so that's a non-issue.

For sound recording Pod Studios work really well!
They cost about 100$, and let you manage tone and record on you PC

Adding a webcam to that you ll be well equiped for less then 200$
For webcam i advised 9000pro before, but if you want to look for another cam make sure it records at 30 fps, alot of them don't but its important for recording guitar videos.

Joruus gave a good suggestion, probably the best in that price range:

interface: POD Studio GX ~100$

here's the review of it here on GMC (older models were called Toneport instead of POD Studio, it's the same device now, only different color)

webcam: logitech quickcam pro 9000 ~75$

this webcam enables you to record videos at decent resolution with 30fps rate. it's very common here on the forum, lots of people use it and have good opinions about it.

the rest of the budget will probably go to some cabling if needed.

+1 for the Line 6 products, they are good for recording.

Line6 Pod studio gx or ux1 + good webcam like logitec 9000 pro is a very good choice!

If you want really good picture quality you can also go for any miniDV camcorder that has firewire out on it(you need firewire input on your PC to use it though). Streaming from a camcorder will give you best video results. Also good lighting is a must for all video recording, try to get some halogen flood lights or something - it will mean a lot!
