Hi guys,

I'm new here and am really liking the website so far, but I have one suggestion. You guys should think about making an iPhone application that lets you use GMC on your iPhone for existing memebers. I am not a developed nor do I own an iPhone. I just thought it would be good for GMC to expand its audience and maybe make some more revenue. Thanks for letting me share

That would sure be a nice move, and we discussed it before. Someone should develop the application, and currently I'm not sure if GMC is going to do that, but if somebody has an idea on how to develop it for iPhone, it would be very cooL smile.gif

I don't get the idea here, maybe Im stupid - but why can't You use GMC on the iPhone as it is ?? It has a browser.....
Otherwise a WAP-site has to be made, but that has nothing with the iPhone itself to do.

It's about the usability and accessibility. User interface for the web is not always good on phones and that's why many other websites have specificaly developed applications for phones such as Facebook, Yahoo, Myspace etc... That would be a good idea to do for GMC but I don't know how expensive and time consuming. Also I am not sure whether the GMC videos can be played on mobile phones if you use just normal phone browser.

That was really what I meant, why develop an app for iPhone, when it had to be done on the server-side, eg. a WAP-site.....

I can open and play videos and access the full site via my Nokia N900. It's works fine and navigates as the website does.

Surely most phones can atleast work on the forum?

forum yes, video no!

why?

because there is no flash out for phones yet...soon though!

however, the iphone is going to be the LAST of the phones to get it, android being the first

Hmmm, I didn't know that... Are the phone-programming people lazy, or what? They have adopted the h.264 standard, which is actually MP4, and very similar to FLASH-video. I think even this can be done on the server-side by encoding the vids on the fly, or convert them from FLASH to MP4 on the fly. It should'nt be a big issue if GMC are going for a WAP-service.

well i say for sure my phone plays the lessons...

the audio is perfect and the video is a litle laggy but good enough to work on the songs when you don't have a computer...

(i'm writing this one my phone now)

wouldn't supprise me iphone was late to get flash, it is overhyped and over priced... the apps are nice but plenty of devices out perform it across the board...

as a phone its pretty rubbish

iPhone doesn't play flash videos. I had the same query sometime back. maybe because HTML5 is coming out and flash is out of business. biggrin.gif

I am learning iPhone apps so hopefully I will develop an app for GMC but again videos has to be mp4. Lets see if I can learn soon and apply my knowledge in developing a GMC app. smile.gif

Cheers!

If it could be done then awesome! Iphone apps are popular and it would be so cool to have it custom for GMC smile.gif

gmc videos are actually mp4, wont be do hard to create an app, on the otherside the site databse is huge, would he hard to organize it all.

It surely is possible to program an iPhone App, if there are some willing people here i would love to join a team and help developing!

The videos are not a problem, there are ways to play the encoding used on the videos on the iPhone. But it has to be done without flash.

And why is there no flash support on the iPhone? Simple: Apple doesnt like flash. They blame the biggest part of their browser problems they have on their Laptop and Desktop computers on flash. Steve jobs said they wont bring flash to the iphone if it is still that buggy. And the Adobe people say that apple is just whining. Also mr. jobs said that there is no need for flash when html5 comes out. wink.gif

We'll see if hes right wink.gif
