I was thinking that a short video on basic guitar maintenance could be useful for us beginners.


How and what to clean and oil (if anything),

and especially how to re-string (this seems to be a fearful duty for most beginners - ive read how to do it, but it would be nice to be shown).


Although playing is what we really want to do, keeping our instrument and its best possible condition seems like something that would be extremely important.



Well, it was just an idea.

actually restringing is really easy.you just put the thin end through the bridge and put it through the hole tuner thing, and tighten it.its actually easy.im not really a beginner, but.....

I think this is a good idea. I know when I started it seemed like there were so many opinions on guitar maintenance, restringing,etc. It was confusing.

This type of tutorial would be an excellent addition to the beginner video tutorials. Maybe an entire separate video tutorial section for Guitar Care.

Basic guitar maintenance is a good idea for a lesson. How about it include truss rod adjustments, string height adjustments, intonation, etc. for those slightly more experienced players that haven't received any formal training in that area?

Well, I don't know. I just renewed my membership for 6 months. And felt it it was money well spent, as Kris offers things not easily available on internet, certainly not for free. But there is a wealth of info on guitar maintenance and adjustments out there, even guitar repair. I would not be paying for that. Just google it, it is all over the place for free.

Yea restringing is quiet easy. Did it the second time and that time no string ripped woo. But the first time it happend only cos of poor strings lol

Will be different tho when I get my new guitar "Ibanez RG350DX"
