I am seriously considering an Ibanez RG350DXWH Electric Guitar. It looks like it might be a really good guitar, anyone of you Ibanez boffs know if this is a good buy?? I was thinking about stretching to £600 but I am not a rich man! laugh.gif

I fancy the white, as I already have a black LesPaul. Im guessing these are good for sweeping/shreding? and also great sustain ?? cool.gif

I was wondering what Pavel thinks of this also, as an owner of the more expensive Jem? cool.gif

It's a good guitar. I've got the 320FM, the stock pu's are good but not great... or let's say they are great but not super great. But for this price guitar you'll never get super great pu's.

I think it's a bit unsensitive with the volume know, I've got difficulties cleaning up a distorted sound by lowering the volume. Don't know if it's the pot or the pu's messing up.

But over all it's a good buy!

For the same price I'd also check out the Jackson DK2M with Seymour Duncans. The neck on this one is so thin it's rediclous! I found it's tone is a bit brighter and went for the Ibanez which was a bit darker and less sharp, what I needed at that time. I wish I could have had both!

Well if you've seen a lot of metal players and virtuoso players use Ibanez, i dont't own one but i've played a few myself and the sound off them is pretty fantastic, even with their own pickups, also if you pay extra and get a model with active EMG pickups those have the best sustain because they're "active" haha, but you already knew that I bet

Those are both very nice guitars, but I'd be more inclined to go with the white, but that's just me, I''d have to play them first and see what feels more natural, so if you're ordering off the net I'd at least stop by a local shop and see if they have the model in stock first.

Ibanez RG models are pretty much specifically made for rock and metal so i suspect they're good for a shredder type player smile.gif

Oh and IMHO nothing wrong with an old model tongue.gif as long as it plays nice

(meant to say Ibanez RG, not just Ibanez, haha)

Nah.. I'm happy with my 320FM, I'd be happy with the 350DX.

I guess no matter the guitar you'd always need to set the termolo aligned and intonate the guitar (I never had one that was intonated from the start).

I don't know if intonation is the correct term. Example, tune the A string, open, to 440 and it might show 436 on the 12'th fret. With intonation I refer to having it ring 440 open aswell as on the 12'th fret. Or rather the octave should equal the flageolett (english word?).

So I mean, people can spend all the money on the world on great guitars but as long as it's out of tune when soloing on the higher frets... what's the use.
I meant in general, not you, ok? So get the guitar you want, set it up correct and even if it's a cheap guitar it will sound better than a more expensive dito that not set up.

I have an Ibanez RG series too.. The fretboard is thin, and smooth..which is Rosewood material.. The edge III tremolo bridge is great... 24 jumbo fret which is great if u hav a large finger..(good enough to play a lot of solo) Dont worry about the tone... If u like Rock and metal, this is a great buy

I found RG series is a bit heavy on its size and weight.. I dunno what u think...I normally feel very tired after standing and playing for jus an hour...( I would go for S series for my next buy). But for this price range of guitar, this is worth it.. At least hav 1 Ibanez for ur gig smile.gif

Hope it helps

go for the white...it looks a lot like pavels guitar..and youve heard how that sounds! cool.gif

haha!!!Well I currently own a very nice LesPaul copy, which i like very much. It has very light weight strings which I also like. But since joining GMC my style has changed, and I want something more "Steve Vai/ Paul Gilbert" style!! Its between an RG or maybe an new Les Paul. Im not sure if the Lespauls suits shred style of play though, does anyone here use a LP for shredding/sweeping ? biggrin.gif

Also, whats the lowest weight strings I can use on the RG?
