Full Version: Greetings From Germany

Hello Guys,

i am new to GMC since today and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself a little bit.

I am comming from Germany and i am 25 years old. I play guitar since 1 and a half year now. Since 1 year i am playing in a progressive metal band. There i learned most of the songs 1 of the old guitarists has written.

But now i am at a point where the parts are getting too hard for me and i am loosing a little bit of motivation. While my practising i recognized that i am having a big bunch of leaks. To be honest...there is no technique i master at all i think.

So i would like to work on following things:

Speed (both hands)
Staccato
palm muting
all the picking techniques
getting a clear sound (there are lots of unwanted noises in my play)
learn about scales
solo play (im rythm guitarist at my band and havent played any lead so far)
vibrato
Bends
songwriting

THat is quite a lot i think, so my first question would be, where to start and with which series etc.
Perhaps you can give me some advices with what i will have the most fun and the most improvment regarding my band.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hey Django, welcome aboard man! smile.gif

There are lots of areas you set, which is great, and you can even cover more of them in parallel (i.e. playing scales/runs fast, or doing vibratos & bends at the same time within a scale you use for the band).

Could you give us some links so we can hear your bands music? It would be better to hear it and to give you some specific things to practice. What guitar do you play, rhythm or lead? If you play in a band and feel that some parts are becoming hard, then it's important to focus precisely on the things that are giving you the problems.

Hi again Django, was great to meet you in the chat room last night (that sounds weirder than I intended..)

I imagine that you found my vibrato and legato series by now so I'll wait and see what my very capable GMC friends suggest to you smile.gif
