Hi, my name is Sergio, 33yo I'm from Monterrey, Mexico and I've been living in Guadalajara for the past 3yrs.

I've been playing guitar on and off since I was 14 and I like to jump to the next step cause I kinda didn't when I had more time.

I don't play in a band right now, but I have played with different bands from Punk Rock, Nu Metal, Classic Rock and Cover Bands.

I have 2 Electric Guitars:
a Jackson Dinky DK2
and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top biggrin.gif

Now lets talk about my background.
I consider myself a little more than average for playing rhythmic guitar and average for intermediate metal riffs.
What I absolutely don't have is the ability to play solos, I think this is because the music I use to hear when I started playing, also cause in the bands I played all them already had a lead guitarist and I was more pumped about playing rhythms.

But now I'm ready to do it, it's never late right laugh.gif

I'm starting with hand sync exercises and some intermediate level blues licks, I already started with this one http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/blues-licks1/ last night and it went pretty well, I managed to do it in about 2 hours.

My plans are to practice 2 or 3 hours a day.

I'll be very very happy if you have any recommendation for me to start with and looking forward to meeting you here on the forums.

Gracias smile.gif

Hello Sergio ! Welcome to the community cool.gif

It's brilliant that you've already started working on some lessons. If it went well, then more of a similar style will help too.

I recommend working on things which include string bending so try putting 'string bending' or bends' in the search bar and see what you find..

A little further along I would eventually start working on vibrato too. For now though, some basic solos that use string bending and different licks and rhythms will be the right thing smile.gif

Hey Sergio! Welcome man! I trust that you will find a lot of interesting things once you start exploring and also, do not shy away from asking us anything you wish to know!

I wanted to let you know about the video chat sessions with all my fellow instructors! You can have a detailed look over the v-chat schedule on the bottom of the homepage - mine is happening each Thursday at 8 PM London time (except next week, when it's going to be on Saturday at 6 PM London time)

Otherwise, I'm also running a licks workshop - the 'thing' if you wanna learn a quick new lick each week - featuring all sorts of styles and levels of difficulty! Check it out: Cosmin's Licks Workshop

See you!
