How many of you guys like fishing? smile.gif I was watching this show on National Geographic where this dude, was fishing Arapaima fish in the Amazon. They are said to be among the largest living river fish in the world!

My fascination with big fish dates since my childhood, when I read a novel written by a Romanian author - Vasile Voiculescu, called 'Lostrita'. To make a long story short, there's a legend about the bog devil, luring humans under the form of a beautiful woman and dragging them into the depths to their demise, under the form of a giant fish.

This young man went fishing where he wasn't supposed to and, the bog devil appeared to him as a beautiful young woman. They lived together until one day when, after driving him insane with her powers, she convinced him to follow her in the river.

The 'Lostrita', is actually a big species of trout, who could be found at enormous sizes a few hundreds of years ago.

Since reading this, I became fascinated with big fish and I am very excited about the idea that I can go fishing into the Danube Delta where a lot of these monsters are still living smile.gif who knows what I am going to catch?

Back in 1987, when they were building a bridge over the Danube, one worker fainted when a sturgeon of gigantic size passed near the glass bell where he was working underwater.

Are any of you guys sharing such a passion for fishing and monster fish? smile.gif Check this link out:

I love fishing! I spent very many summer days with my grandfather and after we were done working(He restores classic cars for a living) we would go fishing, camping, and hiking. Those summers are my best memories. The biggest fish I have ever caught was a 5'7" Sturgeon. I was only 14 at the time. Let me tell you, those fins they have are razor sharp and I watched my stepfather almost lose his finger to one one summer. We were fishing in my uncle's boat and he caught an 8'3" Sturgeon! Talk about huge!

when i have been a teenager i sometimes went fishing with my uncle - Carp and Forel sometimes we have been standing in the middle of the river and waiting till something happened - good memories .

Now i don't fish any more but i got some Kois behind my house and i like to watch them - peaceful and elegant movements .

I used to fish a lot.....and then I started to play guitar! tongue.gif Seriously though, I did fish a great deal in my teenage years, walked a lot of miles along streambanks in search of monster trout. I even learned how to tie flies so I could go fly fishing for trout and bass. When I started college and began to play guitar it just kinda faded out of my life, till I only go about once or twice a year now.

I never tried to learn that much about fishing, but still, the idea of catching a big fish, especially one that would be legendary, attracts me A LOT!

I just discovered the show River Monsters on Animal Planet channel. I don't miss an episode now. smile.gif It is fascinating the enormous fresh water fish they are catching. With no real growth limitations and some of these fish having a life span of almost a 100 years, its still a mystery what can be found lurking under the depths.
