Full Version: Meditation Music Ear Training: What Is The Key And The Chord Progression?
GMC Forum > Discussion Boards > THEORY
Jonas Tamas
Hi all,

Another music for ear training purpores:)

Watch the video, and answer the following 3 questions:

1. Which mode did I use here?

2. What is the key of this music, and how many sharps or flats are in this key?

The result will be somewhat surprising, because this mode has a quite different vibe here, and a lot of the time this mode is being used for blues/rock.

My guess is:

Spoiler:
D Mixolydian

D Major

2 # at 3rd and 7th

I used the open note as a clue and my guitar to find what mode fit to what you're playing. Look forward to see if I am onthe right track here. Interesting sounding vibe!

Hi Joe, your first answer is correct, you've found the mode I've applied.

The answer to the second question must be reconsidered, as the key you've written in the Spoiler section, contains the note C#, and in the video I'm using C instead.

Hi man, you're right. Jonas is playing D Mixolydian mode in this video.
