Ok guys guys so let's be honest...How many of us use vibrato when You play live and hear that Your guitar wen a bit out o tune (due to the temperature fo example) ? I'm guilty as charged if You ask

That's what you should do ... until you have a moment to re-tune.

Me too I even bend some notes when playng a chord, as soon as I realize I am slightly out of tune Did it many times and I am glad I have built this ability!

It's probably same as You get to play on a badly adjusted guitar and avoid to play harmonies or some specific licks You feel will sound wrong

Are you talking about having a string that's out of tune and using vibrato as a way to disguise it ? Then hell, yes

So we all are guilty as charged...but in this particular case I think it's sort of respect for the listener, to keep the performance at a descent level, even if the mothernature is not on Your side

For me it's a fact of daily guitar playing life.
You've probably noticed that most of the instruments I play are either weird (and cheap) vintage things or 'normal' tele and strat varieties. These are not known for their intonation, the Teles, archtops and cheap 60s Japanese axes have either semi or completely non adjustable bridges. Some of the guitars are better than others (intonation wise) but you're always making small 'adjustments' (or even fret/note choices) while you play ... or, just not worrying about it

Ha ha ! Yeah - we can always put the all mighty "don't care" button

I usually check and double check and have my guitar tech check every axe before and while gigging, so usually I don't have to deal with this, but before having a tech, well I dealt with the situation a lot of times.

Anyway, as Darius said - to me it's something that sometimes deals with the respect for the listener Very well put!

I wonder if our kids will have that kind of problems anymore. Will all the guitars have an evertune bridge or multi-core digital system (like Peavey or Washburn did) that auto-tunes Your outputsignal, no matter what is the exact pitch of the string ?
