Hello

I like rock, some jazz, I hope to play fusion in a few years.
I don't know the theory of music, I play a sensation. It's hard to progress.
thanks to your site I will learn things , I 'm very happy.

This week I'll post a video , you can evaluate my level.

Hello Monica
Kristofer Dahl
Hey Mister M - welcome to GMC! biggrin.gif

In fusion you can use the exact same licks as in rock - the only difference is that you are much more aware of the chord progression when playing. With this awareness you can target notes that sound wrong but still end your phrases on notes that sound right. Today's new lick - although very difficult to play - is a good example of that: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rock-F...n-Outside-Lick/

So my advice would be for you try to play your rock licks over a more fusion sounding chord progression - here is a an example which involves 4 modulations (change of key). For each chord you must change scale: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/greg_howe_techniques/

It's great to have you on board! cool.gif

Ok I see - the lesson example I gave (http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/greg_howe_techniques/) was mostly for the backing track (because it is an example of a fusion sounding backing track).

I would advise to take the licks of any level 4 lesson, and perhaps try using them over a fusion sounding backing track. So if you were to do that over the Greg Howe lesson's backing track, here is the simplified theory (see scales in red):

-C#m7 I play: C#m blues scale/ C#m arpeggio/ C# dorian ( C#m pentatonic)
-Cmaj7 I play: Cmaj7 arpeggio/ C Lydian ( C maj pentatonic)
-Bm7 I play: Bm pentatonic/ B Dorian (Bm pentatonic)
-Bbmaj7 I play: Bbmaj7 arpeggio/ Bb Lydian (Bb maj pentatonic)

---

Since I have no clue about your current level, I realise I might just be confusing things. But we'll solve that as you upload your playing to the REC board! smile.gif

Thank you for the advice.
I play the Lick of the day Gippsy Jazz.
It's very melodic, it is possible to download the backing track ?

Hi Mister! Great to know that you'll work on the things we marked. I wouldn't call them mistakes, they are expressing elements to develop more. Looking forward your new takes.

No problem, i just want ti improve myself wink.gif

Question : how is tuned the Sinisa's guitar ? When i play with him, i'm not on the same tone
Gabriel Leopardi
Hi mate, I checked the lesson and you're right it's not exactly on 440 hz tuning. Sinisa's guitar is a bit lower but it doesn't reach to Ab on the 5th string. I think that his tuning is 432 hz, and there is reason why some musicians has used this tuning in history.

Check this article:

Hi MisterM, please don't worry about language, use translator and feel free to join the threads and discussions that you'd like. There is nothing wrong with your posts. I can understand everything clearly. wink.gif

About guitar rig, you can get cool tones with it. It's just a matter of trial and error, and which is mostly more important, to start with simple stuff. Just choose a head and a cabinet and try to get the most of it, then you could add an overdrive before the amp to shape the tone and get more sustain.

Nowadays I'm using some free plug ins for my lessons with really cool results, check out this thread:
