Sounds like the captain has a bit of a pitch shift on his voice.

There seems to be a trend of Preamp pedals recently, I wonder how many people are just using them as fancy overdrive pedals and how many are using them with small footprint power amps and cabs or power amp emulators and IRs.

I have an old peavey amp at home, cab. and poweramp similar to bandit but preamp sucks.

Something like this+my boss gt-1 (fx only) could really turn it into a monster, even with the cheap boss processor these old amps (preferably with bigger cab.s) can sound amazing on the cheap.

But mainly I think for direct recording interface usage. The victory line is on the more expensive side the trend of getting the sound inside the computer is getting stronger everyday.

As for overdrive (boost), compared to traditional pedals I'd suspect they might get too coloring if one doesn't want to change his/her amps tone too much.

I'm doing something similar actually. I use a mojo diamond micro head as a preamp and run out of the fx loop out to a loudster power amp. So I get the preamp tone/eq from the micro head and the loudster acts as power amp. The loudster is a power amp that fits right on the board.
