This is a cool article... I wonder why Kemper Stage is not included in this list.

Well, the kemper is a unique device. It's not really a "Mult FX" unit. It's a profiling system that happens to have a few effects on it as well. Serves the same purpose of course smile.gif Seems like folks love the CORTEX. It seems to be the "Trendy" unit just now. It does sound great to be sure. Also, it's still pretty new. It's the Roasted Maple Neck of processors just now smile.gif

No Fractal FX 8 either which is purely multi fx and surely must rank highly among multi fx units. Quite possibly the best. Maybe I am biased since I own one but I really can't say I've heard anything close except for maybe the Helix.

I've owned an Ax8 which I suppose is exactly as the Fx8 but also with amp emulations, and I really agree with you. It's totally killer for effects, and also for amp sounds. Some months ago I upgraded it to FM3 and it's even one step forward. I'm curious to see how the Quad Cortex sounds compared to these ones.

Yeah. It seems to me that the Ax8 should be in the list. Kemper stage should be there too I would think since profiling and modeling are much the same thing and they are in direct competition with all these other units. Not sure how the FM3 could rank so low either. I like Guitar World, but to me, this list is incomplete and bogus. I would be really interested to check out the Quad Cortex too.

Well, the ax is represented in the FM3 as it's a floor version of some great fractal algos. All of the in the article are floor versions which begs the question about the floor version of the kemper, but the kemper isn't really a multi fx unit as mentioned earlier. It's a profiler. It has some fx on it, but not much. Certainly nothing like the fractal. They did include some lower end units as well, which begs the question of why they left off the hotone unit that I'm such a fan of and yet included some units which are a bit further down the pecking order. Still, it's just a shootout, i'm sure we will get more of em smile.gif

The awesome Doug Doppler (if you don't know him you should, one of Satch's students that took over Satch's teaching gig) is going to go over the Quad Córtex on Facebook live today at 9am pacific time
