As you know I am new to this cool site...! I used to about 4 years ago tune down 2 steps to C. Now I have my guitar down half step to E Flat standard. If I am trying to learn for the first time what the heck I am playing should I go to standard tuning or is down a half step OK?

If you want to learn lessons from our instructors (with a couple of exceptions) you need to tune to E standard or the pitch won;t match up with the backing tracks. For metronome and scale practice it won;t make any difference really.
