  • Hi Guys,

Welcome to my lesson No. 35

It's time for some interesting concept to learn the most important 7 Modes.

But instead to do this in just one key (i.e. C Major: C Ionian, D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, A Aeolian & B Locrian) I always kept the bass on a C note PLUS the corresponding chords of each mode. So in another words you'll get 7 different keys and learn to compare each mode individually.
To give you a better demonstration how different each mode sounds, I made 2 licks for every mode. (14 licks in total)

    Enjoy!

    1. C Ionian (C Major) 0:05-0:13
    | CMaj7| % | % | % |

    2. C Dorian (Bb Major) 0:14-0:23
    | Cm7| % | % | % |

    3. C Phrygian (Ab Major) 0:24-0:32
    | Cm7| % | % | % |

    4. C Lydian (G Major) 0:33-0:42
    | CMaj7| % | % | % |

    5. C Mixolydian (F Major) 0:43-0:51
    | C7| % | % | % |

    6. C Aeolian (Eb Major) 0:53-1:01
    | Cm7| % | % | % |

    8. C Locrian (Db Major) 1:03-1:11
    | Cm7b5| % | % | % |

    Have fun! ;-)
