  • Hi GMC!

The ride continues, we arrived in Macedonia! The country known for its fascinating odd rhythms and musical heritage!
The folk music of Macedonia is very diverse in terms of melodic forms, but also it boasts a considerable variety of keys and it is especially rich rhythmically. The most interesting feature, in that respect, are certainly the so called uneven or asymmetric rhythm. They are measured in 7/8, 9/8,7/8+5/8, 12/8, 13/8 etc. The complex rhythm of a song or an instrumental piece is framed usually by a tapan or tarambuka .

For this occasion I chose an 7/8 time signature, which is very useful and it's kind of a basic rhythm for uneven patterns. Count it as follows - 123/12/12 !

Equipment: Sonar8 DAW, Amplitube 3 guitar plugin, Ibanez SC 3120 Saber J Custom

    Tempo : 75 bpm

    Signature : 7/8

    Chord progression:E,F,Dm,Am,C

    Scale used : Phrygian Dominant7

    Techniques: Alternate picking
