  • Hey GMC'ers! Today I’ll be showing you a lesson inspired by a great old time guitarist, a father of the guitar solo, Chuck Berry. I'll be taking a few of his licks and mixing them up.

This solo is in the pentatonic of Bb, a mix of major and minor. The base is a classic rock and roll or blues in Bb: Bb - Eb - Bb- Gb - Eb - Bb (two bars of each chord).

To sound like Chuck, add just a bit of drive to your amp or maybe use an ibanez tube screamer (or any similar overdrive pedal) and play hard with your right hand. If you enjoy this lesson don’t get too excited because you could end up like Marty McFly in Back to the Future, kicking your amplifier! ;)
