  • Welcome to the "Hot Country Solo" lesson! This uptempo piece is inspired by modern country players like Brad Paisley and Brent Mason. You're going to want to employ a hybrid picking style with this lesson. If you aren't comfortable with hybrid picking yet check out some of my other lessons dedicated to the topic first. The tone on this one is very snappy. I'm using the bridge pickup on my telecaster into a compressor and slapback delay into an overdriven amp with a little spring reverb. As with all chicken picking - style is king! Playing the right notes only gets you part of the way. There is a lot of staccato playing with palm mutes and changing the pressure in the left hand as well. Twang on!
