  • Greetings from Granada (Andalucia - Spain)!

Thanks for watching my new lesson. This is an example of funky playing with two techniques: hybrid picking and skunk funk. Hybrid picking is when you combine playing with the pick and the fingers of your right hand, and Skunk Funk technique consists of right hand strumming and left hand muting, in such a manner that not all the strings are muted rather some notes are left free.

    Music Style:
    Maceo Parker Classic Funk Style

    Tonality & Chords:
D Mixolidian & Pentatonic minor Scales

    Techniques:
I play Hybrid Skunk Funk using: hybrid picking, finger picking, skunk notes, palm mute rhythm, muted notes, harmonics, bending and legato.

    Sound:
I used Engl Amp with a little Overdrive and stereo Delay. The guitar is a Fender Telecaster Hot Rod 52

    Tuning:
    DROP D: D,A,D,G,B,E

    Tempo:
115 BPM (Slow parts shown at 60 BPM)
