Hi GMC!
Welcome to this lesson covering the amazing guitar style of Lari Basilio, an LA-based Brazilian guitarist from the new generation.
In this new lesson you'll find 5 licks that combine his most used techniques, elements and tricks over the same chord progression (C - D - Em) in order to recreate his phrasing which is tasty and very expressive. The scales used here are E Pentatonic minor, E blues scale, E Aeolian and E Dorian.
Each lick introduces a new important aspect of her playing which combines finger picking, with picking, and a wide variety of other techniques.
Lick 1: Lari's melodic phrasing. Use of slides & rhythmic/latin motifs.
Lick 2: Bending & double stops.
Lick 3: Melody harmonized in thirds & chord scales.
Lick 4: Melody harmonized in sixths, fingerpicking & tapping.
Lick 5: String skipping phrasing, palm muted phrasing, hybrid picking and shredding (legato).
When checking her website I've read that one of Lari’s greatest influences is Andy Timmons. “The first time I listened to him was remarkable and made me want to play more and more.” Timmons later returned the compliment, referring to Lari’s music as “soulful and melodic.” And I can't agree more with Andy's words. I also can hear influences by other guitarists like Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, among many others.

I used Fractal Ax8's Deluxe Verb (Fender Twin Reverb emulation), Cubase 9.5 to record audio and midi, Groove Agent for drums and Native Instruments Massive for synth. I've also used a Steinberg Bass guitar connected to AX8's Ampeg emulation.
