  • Hello my friends!

    Good to see you again!

    This time we'll take a look at how to make a melodic solo and phrases the right way over a ballad with easy chords.
    The idea is to go back to basics - just use one scale and hit the chord tones, sometimes utilizing the arpeggios of the chords.

    I tried to keep it simple this time - just E major/E pentatonic scale.
    The main point here is to sound melodic and articulated, expressive and vocal-like, with minimum shred.

    Main guitar techniques used in this piece:

    - Bending and vibrato
    - Fingerstyle
    - Dynamic picking
    - Legato

    Tuning: Standard

    Tempo: 94 bpm

    Chord progression:

    || E | % | C#m | % |
    | A | % | B | % |
    | C#m | % | A | % |
    | E | % | B | % || etc

    Gear used:

    - Suhr Modern Frost
    - Bogner Shiva EL34
    - Legacy 4x12'
    - Apogee Duet2

    Hope you'll enjoy this lesson, folks!
