  • Hello GuitarMasterClass, it's time to talk a bit about Hybrid Picking and that's why I'm making a serial about, this part of it is at beginner level, a pure and simple introduction to this very popular picking technique.

So what is Hybrid Picking actually? In short lines, it's playing with the pick and with your right hand fingers, combining them all together.

If you're holding the pick with your thumb and index finger, then you can use middle, ring finger and even pinky to work along with the pick, which will give you Hybrid Picking. However in this lesson we'll be working on most simple combo which is the pick and middle finger only.

There are indeed many benefits once you master this technique, you'll be able to play many licks that you've been struggling with using only regular picking, with the pick only. So take your time and dive into this serial. :)

Here we have key of G minor, only Gm scale is in use, 4/4 bar, 85 bpm is the tempo.

Setting I used on Korg Pandora PX4D for this lesson are:
    SGL > HUM 10.0
