Great to hear mate! Thanks for sharing your input
one thing I've noticed about a lot of video games, especially 90's video games, is the astonishing amount of fusion/funk ish type of tracks they use. I'm pretty sure video games are what turned me on to jazz fusion (although I was probably unconscious of it at the time).
awesome! loved the sound efx
Love it
awesome idea and cool lesson david
Welcome to this new series of lessons in which we'll explore ideas inspired by video game music!
This first lesson is based on a Space invaders clone game I was asked to score a while back. We'll be using mostly minor pentatonic scales to create a funky energetic kind of track.
As always with this kind of lesson, it's important to focus on good rhythm placement and clean guitar technique. Make sure you are comfortable with the scale positions involved before working through the different licks.
Notice that every once and a while, some notes are not quite part of the scale involved. That is completely normal, as some licks are chromatic orientated and there only to keep the listener interested.
Have fun with these ideas, and make sure to use them in your own writing!
