  • Hi guys, welcome to another GMC lesson, today I've made for you an intensive right hand picking etude that concentrates mainly on single strings, to improve stamina and coordination.

Single String Picking Etude - 100 bmp
    -------------------------------------

All the effort in this lesson comes from the right hand, that has to pick constantly sixteenth-notes triplets from the beginning, never stopping, while the left hand sync fretting notes on accents, and scale fragments.

    Techniques Focus
    ----------------

An extremely relaxed picking hand is mandatory to play the whole etude from the beginning to the end without stopping, as usual start slow, and practice building speed and coordination.

    Theory Focus
    ------------

The different riffs are constructed using open strings as pedal point; A pedal point is a sustained tone, typically in the bass.

    Pro Tips
    --------

Angle the pick, will give you a nice chunk, and will reduce the effort necessary to pick the string.

Keep Picking, see you next lesson,

    Joe Kataldo.
