  • Hi GMC!

This is traditional Brazilian piece which is, contrary to other Brazilian tunes, very fast. It requires very good coordination between right and left hand, picking, and timing. If you can play this piece in 100 bps, consider your self a good picker.

I used alternate picking exclusively, however, you don’t have to. In the second part of the tune, where arpeggios are being played, try with sweep instead. It will still be demanding, but you’ll be able to safe lot of right hand motion. Also, try with different positions(especially in the first part).

The harmony looks very tricky, and it’s hard to play, but harmonically you basically have A minor and A major. In the first part, where you have A min6, originally A harmonic minor is being played, but you can also use melodic minor, if you want to improvise(more jazzy).

Tico tico is very popular piece all over the world, especially among guitar players, and it’s being played by many jazz(gipsy jazz especially) and classical musicians, it is consider as a standard. Structure of the song is very simple. A, A with variation at the end, B, B with variation at the end, C, C with variation at the end.

    Good luck and enjoy!

    Vasilije
