  • Hello GMC !
    - In todays lesson we are going to play some natural harmonics on bass.A harmonic is a "bell like" tone that is produced by gently touching the strings over some frets.Today we are going to cover natural harmonics which are produced by touching the open strings. This technique will add a new sound to your bass vocabulary and its very useful for solo bass compositions..

-You are going to learn a little solo bass composition that I composed for you and you will utilize playing natural harmonics in it.You will practice getting that feeling for playing them and precision needed. You will gain a good control over left hand. Also right hand will be playing fingerstyle , plucking the strings like playing the classical guitar.

-I used F#m scale for composing this tune and every note played will belong to that scale..

    -Key: F#m
    -Tempo: 80 bpm
    -Time signature: 4/4
    -Tuning : standard
    -Difficulty: intermediate

Equipment I used for getting this sound was: Peavey Cirrus bass with active soapbar pickups, equal mix of both of them with added middle on onboard eq in order to accent these harmonics - then going to the nemesis(eden) amp with a 1x15" and slightly added bass and treble there (at 1 o'clock position).

Feel free to ask me any questions in the lesson feedback and in my instructor board at forum.

Enjoy and I hope you'll have a lot of fun jamming this one!
