LESSON #69 - Building A Solo, Employing Previous Techniques

In this lesson, we are going to build a Guitar Solo and play it against a backing (The Backing is the Metal Collab recently initiated by Cosmin Lupu, here is my full solo take as a preview.

Here is a link to the audio file of backing with solo for download and reference.

IMPORTANT: The song is written in the key of “C Minor”, but we are going to tune up half a step so that our open string licks will work here and our previous several lessons will match up with this as well. So tune your B string to a C.

let’s warm up a bit and get our fingers ready to rip! - FINGER YOGA!
Let’s do our usual Finger Yoga stretches. Here is a link to the video for references:

We are going to do a series of increasingly complex licks. These will help your hands get used to changing shapes each time they move.

Take a look at our first tablature. The Easiest of the bunch.

Here is the Guitar Pro Tablature File.

Now let’s play this with a metronome a bit, back and forth and then once we have it, let’s do it with the backing track. Let’s add a third note in.

And the Guitar Pro Tablature File.

Now let’s invert this pattern and try it with the metronome, working up some speed, then transfer to the backing track.

And the Pro Tablature File.

Let’s add another note to this. It really starts to rip as a four note tap.

And the Guitar Pro Tablature File.

Now move your right hand around to find other spots on the neck that are in key while leaving your left hand doing this pattern.

Here is the GUITAR RIG CUSTOM PRESETS I used on the solo. This one is the "PsychoSynthetic" that sounds almost like a synth.

This is the patch for the middle section.
