LESSON #70 - Endurance Intensive

Let’s take a break from our Soloing In Context work and focus a bit on sheer speed and endurance. Once of the main things holding some players back from being able to play what they want, feel, hear in their head/heart, is that simple fact that their hands lack the endurance to keep up with their creativity. The good news, this is very simple to fix. It just takes........PRACTICE! Let’s warm up.

FINGER YOGA! - Let’s do our usual Finger Yoga stretches.

GETTING UP TO SPEED with EXTREEEEEEEEEEME Endurance

Let’s take a basic shape and run it up the strings in “threes”, or up three strings down one. Strike only once at the open string then left hand hammer on the rest of the notes

Once we have this down, lets march it up the neck one fret at a time with our Metronome and work on our Endurance.

Now, let’s try this same thing as an alternate/economic picking workout. Again, up the neck one fret at a time. Now let’s cross the line and dive in to CRAZY LAND. Let’s do our EXTREME endurance pattern and toss in an EXTREM finger stretch as a bonus! If your hand can’t take this, don’t be heart broken, ITS REALLY, REALLY HARD!

Let’s add some complexity in to our work. Let’s take this Minor pattern and run it as a open string single pick strike and as an alternate picking workout on each string in sequence.
