Composing A Pop/rock-song

Hi there!

Right now I am supposed to write a song in pop/rock style, but after going through different keys I noticed that standard keys aren't the best choice for that kind of songs. Do you know some good chord types (e.g. Major7 etc.), that fit into this type of music?
I'm not sure whether I've asked this before.

How To Hold The Pick When Strumming

Hi there!

I've one question about how to hold the pick when strumming e.g. a chord. Could someone eventually post a picture (better a small video) of him strumming a simple pattern? I'm struggling with that, because I loose my pick quite often when strumming a faster pattern.

Quick Question On Downpicking

Hi there!

Just a quick question my downpicking practice:

At the moment I'm practicing downpicking with the song "Creeping Death" from Metallica. Now I have got two ways of doing that: Should I practice let's say 5 minutes without resting or 2,5 minutes, a little break, and again 2,5 minutes? It's because I can get faster when I only play 2,5 minutes without resting, but would it be better for the stamina to play the whole thing at once?

Lil' Question About Hoarse Singing

Hi there!

I know this is not the singing forum but I would like to know everybody's opinion on that. Is it possible to "learn" hoarse singing even if you don't have a natural "throaty" voice? I would love to sing some songs in the style of Rise Against, and to sound a bit like the singer, but I wanted to ask first.
