Hi Laszlo, I am currently working on this lesson of yours and I am trying to get a close guitar tone as yours. Can you please tell me what effects and what pickup position you are using ? I managed to reproduce the effect pretty much but I cannot figure out what pickup you are using from the video. It sounds like a bridge but.. in the same time in some places it sounds like the neck Thanks, Hi! You heard it well, I used the bridge pickup on this record. I usually use only a few effects at recordings. The main distortion is an Ibanez TS9DX and a Kasleder distortion as booster, sometimes a bit compressor, eq and reverb or delay at the end. But the main sound is the two distortion pedal, Laney combo amp-line out then Cubase5. That's it. I hope it helps you to make similar recording!! Laszlo |

I realy liked your take ! In my opinion first focus only on the bends and if you are ready with the lesson, then try to play it with vibratos. In the beginning at the C mixolydian there is a bit timing poblem, but overall this is a great record. |

Laszio -- I enjoyed this lesson. Notes are not hard, but really nailing the timing, triplet phrasing, etc. are instructive. Great tone. What effects were you using, and what was your setting on the guitar. Thanks a lot. Tim Wallace Hi Tim! I'm glad you enjoyed my lesson! I usually use a simple distortion ( BOSS OD-20 or Ibanez TS9 DX), Laney amp and POD sound card, Cubase5. At the blues lesson I use neck pickup, the tone and the volume are on the max. And that's it. If you have any question in connection with these just sen me message. Regards Laszlo |

Laszlo, I'm new to GMC. This is one of the first lessons I chose to work on. I am really enjoying it. I like your teaching style. I like the way you explain what you're doing, step by step. Running through it once very, very slowly and then once at tempo. I was listening to and watching the "main" video and comparing it to some sheet music I have for this song. I noticed that right around measures 17 and 18 you play the lick, but play it higher up on the fretboard. But in the individual lessons where you break the solo down lick by lick, I can't seem to find where you describe how to play these two measures. The lick is pretty simple and I've got it figured out, but was just curious. Did you leave it out intentionally? And, why do you play it an octave higher? Is the fingering easier or is there some other advantage? Anyway, I very much enjoy your lessons and I hope you can do some more Pink Floyd lessons sometime. Bob Hi Bob! I'm glad you like this lesson! It's possible I played some notes a bit different as it is on the original sheet. I watched some video how Gilmour play it, and I tried to make a very similar and playable lesson from it. If you have any question in conection with this lesson just send me a message. Regards Laszlo |

I liked your playing! But the sound was a bit weak indeed and I have to agree with Zsolt, try to use more distortion at this lesson. Overall this is a great take! |

Very good take! This is a very interesting version! You didn't change sound in the second part, it was a bit strange for me, but not bad! However I guess you need to pay more attention to the tempo. It wasn't quite accurate during the song. And maybe at the bridge part there was some inaccuracy at the bendings as well. Overall it was nice work. |

Hi Laszlo! Just wanted to say that the cover you did on Scorpions songs are just awesume! Matthias Jabs is one of my all time favourite guitarists:) Hes feeling and melodic solos are amazing and you completely nailed it! I will certainly try and learn them after some more practising on other things:) Great work and thx for sharing:)) // Thomas Hi! I absolutely agree with you, he is an amazing guitar player. I grew up on their music so I love their music very much. However Matthias'a solos are very diverse and exciting indeed. I'm glad you like my covers and I plan to make even more Scorpions cover in the future. Regards Laszlo |

i also have a Keeley modded DS-1, but I use it together wit an Ibanez ts9 dx (modded ts9 of course)and they have an awewsom sound. One of these always only a booster, it depends on which one is ahead. Worth to try it! |

I'm scared now - with this many cool takes pressure is on my to make something really cool (and that's a good thing!). Laszlo very tasty stuff - I especially liked the neoclassical part and the phrasing in the beginning. Zsolt - extremely aggressive stuff. Definitely worthy the title of the collab =) Listening more to both takes right now. Edit - Laszlo all your files contain the backing track as well. Could you send me a file with only your guitar sound? Of course Kris, here you are! solotrack.wav ( 10.98MB ) Number of downloads: 247 |
