Hi, I think it's important to play slow, for the muscles, hands coordination, the brain... I like to warm up with a metronome or a backing track, let's say around 80bpm. Play some scales with half notes, quarter notes with alternate picking, then legato for the left hand, some arpeggios ... some bends too all along the neck. Playing chords is also great to warmp and it's a great way to revise some of them ... drop2, drop3, inversions, triads.... ! I like to use a backing track to stay in a musical perspective and only in a 'mechanical' way, I think it's also important to wake up or warm up your musical side too. |

Hi Manu, I just seen your video and in my opinion it's not a matter of tone or the amount of gain. I think you have to slow down again and more important take a closer look to your technique especially for the pull off. Your mouvement isn't totaly right, you don't really pull and release the string to make it ring. To achieve the right movement, imagine when playing the high e string trying to pull the string outside the fretboard. Hope you see the picture... |

Hi Todd, I made this backing track for the demo, don't know where the inspiration comes from ... Someone suggested to make a GMC lesson with this stuff and why not, I think it's a cool idea! Anyway, here's the BT ! It's in Dm ( D minor pentatonic / D Aeolian mode works great!) / 88 bpm Have fun & do not hesitate to post some audio/video of you jamming with the BT ! |

Hi everyone! Wanted to share with you a little demo of the Archer pedal (J.. Rockett Audio Designs) Although I'm not into the Klon "hype", I wanted to give it a try by myself. And yes, this Archer is a great piece of gear (with a decent price...) I'll keep it on the pedalboard ! |

Hi John, Iif you're already comfortable with the hybrid picking technique here's a lesson that could helps you to improve your skills and/or maybe give you some fresh ideas (it seems that you already know this lesson). http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Lead-Hybrid-Picking/ Here's a basic exercise with a Dm arpeggio (practice with a metronome!) : Pick / Middle / Ring finger
Hope it helps! |

Hi piporz, Great take overall, nice feel & tone - a little brighter would be great ! - As Cosmin & Gab said you just have to pay more attention to dynamics to improve your take. Being picky, I would also recommend you a little more focus on your left hand vibrato : more sureness . Cheers, |

The lick is build around the Dm / Dm7 arpeggio, FM7 arpeggio at the end (FM7 = Dm9...), so played alone the line clearly sounds as D dorian. As you know that's the same notes as G mixolydian and as klasaine said notice " It's very common for jazzers on all instruments to play dorian up a 5th from a dominant chord: G7 or G9 or G13 = Ddorian " To take a shortcut that's the same thing (IIm7 / V7), it's just a way to visualize things, improvise, finding new melodic ideas... That's means that you could play your favourite Dorian lines over any 7th chord You're also talking about the F# note. That's that we call the bebop scale, a chromatic note is added to get 8 notes scale : The bebop dominant scale over G7 : G A B C D E F F# G Or the bebop Dorian scale over Dm7 : D E F F# G A B C D |

hello stephane How can I do to find the video that shows the exercises in the style of Mike Stern and Pat Metheny. Those that can see on You tube. Thank you for your work, you give really want to play. You make Internship in France? There is a piece that is plkait me much So what Miles Davis, you can offer this piece soon? how to play and improvise especially above, be original this is mostly what's in each of us. thank you again Stephane and also to other instructors. Yann de Lille. Hi Yann, thanks for the nice words! Stern & Metheny videos you mentioned are only avaible in my Youtube channel. That's the same concept you could find here on GMC with the "Licks of the day" (Although there's not a lick per day in my channel... ) I'm not sure to understand your question : " how to play and improvise especially above..." |

Hi Nether! It's clear that you put lot of efforts in these lesson ans you have lot of fun playin' it. I could suggest you to focus on the timing, here and there it's floating and bending, as some bends are out of pitch. Your high e string seems also not in tune! Keep up the good work and you'll see the results in the coming month! |

Nice take! A couple of bends are out of tune, the one you mentionned and one at 1.18. Nothing serious though! To improve you overall playing, pay attention to your left hand vibrato : maybe could you dedicate some time to it. Nice take & playin' ! |

Nice one! I wanted to add one thing : pay attention to your left hand vibrato, some notes are a little bit out of tune. Just slow down things to keep the control. |

Hi Godwin! First, I'm glad you joined GMC & thanks a lot for your nice words. It's quite hard for me to give you advice, without knowing your level and your theoretical knowledge. Please let me know a little more about yourself! I would also suggest you an essential reading : Mark Levine "The jazz theory book" |
