thats right Ben, Battlestations was Winger, and a great song at that. Winger are probably my favourite band at the mo...check out this tune on the amazing "Pull" album
its called "Blind revolution mad", and check out the string skipping tapping part at the start of the solo!

one of my favourite players - fluid and melodic. Formally with the amazing Winger, Dokken, Alice Cooper and now Whitesnake.
Try and find a more well written solo than this..."Seventeen" by Winger
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QcgCSkExEI
oops - just seen that "seventeen" has been posted already in this thread! still, awesome!

interesting one this...he's done loads of great stuff, but for me his most creative was with Dave Lee Roth on the Eat 'em and Smile and Syscraper albums...simply fantastic!

My vote is for Satriani cool.gif ...for tone, groove, note placement, melody and writing. IMO "The Extremist" the best inst guitar album ever.
Vai is awesome though, and a great performer.

Hi guys
Ive just finished playing in the orchestra for a run of "Fame the musical" at a local theatre, reading from a large book of notation huh.gif - not too bad when you get to know the songs, but the first couple of nights...very scary! I can honestly say that in terms of scariness it was right up there with 36 finger tapping! But what a buzz! A strongly recommend brushing up your sight reading, get down to your local theatre and start counting those rests!! Next stop, west side story!

Also, you could always try starting on a different beat of the bar, or use a different time signature...
