Gabriel Leopardi
Hey guys! Welcome to my new Collab based in the lesson Classic Punk: The Clash.
You will find all the theory behing this backing track in the text of the lesson. The idea of this collab is that you record some melodies and solos over A Major. The best way to do it is following the chords and starting and ending the melodies in chord tones.

The deadline is Monday 10th.

~Sorry about the bad quality of the mixing sad.gif i just started to work with this today, i have no idea how to proper mix

i didn't intend to go with shred or fast lick at all, i try to recreat some "vocal" lines, then a mini solo tongue.gif so don't expect great skill show off.

Hey guys! This is the final mix and comments.

Hi friend. Thanks for your take! I hafve to say that your take has some really cool moments where you play amazing melodies always following the chords. Your technique is really good and I’m amazed of the precision of your bending. There are some little timing issues in some moments but nothing very importat. Just pay attention to that. You tone is fantastic, it’s clean, warm and sustained. The addition of delay make it sound perfectly with the mix. Great job!

MonkeyDathos
Hi mate! Thank for joining the Collab! You recorded a very interesting take that has very different moments and this makes your composition very interesting. You choose the nicer notes at every moment and this is because you followed the chords… maybe you didn’t do this conciently but you trusted in your ear. You also resolved very well the part in which the progression modulates. You tone sounds a bit noisy. Maybe you could set try to add les distortion from your amp or pedal and try to get sustain using any kind of compressor. Thanks again for taking the time and congrats for this great take!

Guitarrero
Hey friend! I have to say that your take sounds a bit weird and I think that the reason is that you used A minor scale while the progression is in A major. For this reason I decided to not include the take in the mix. If you want to give this another try I could add it and give you some feedback. By the way thanks a lot for taking time to record for this collab.

MonkeyDAthos
thank you, and xD yes i trusted my ears the whole time.
and ty i am still searching for a good tone..thing is that i am recoding direct from the amp, so i get an extra boost of HUM, cuz i have some electrical ground issues in my room tongue.gif
Gitarrero
Haha, just noticed I should have used A major laugh.gif Well, that's what happens when you listen to Ben's chat with one ear and record a take for a collab at the same time smile.gif I've got more time this weekend and will mess around with this backing again wink.gif

Trusting in ears is the way guys like Hendrix, SRV and Slash created some of the greatest solos. biggrin.gif

Are you using the line out from your amp?

hahaha yeah, Ben's chats are so amazing so I really understand why you used the incorrect scale. biggrin.gif

yeah, I know that type of line out. It doesn't work very good for distorted sounds. You would improve your sound a lot if you can get a mic like ShureSm57 or similar.
MonkeyDAthos
ty for the advice, i will check it out.

This is the new mix with the re-take of Guitarrero!

Guitarrero:
I think that this time you did an amazing job. Every note is on scale and fits perfectly with the chord that is played in the progression. I like the fact that the solo evolves first changing the rhythm and then starting doing octave chords melodies. In some moments I feel that the guitar is a bit out of tune but maybe it¡s a calibration issue. I like the tone, the EQ sounds good and it has enough sustain without sounding too dirty. Thanks for taking the time to record the take again. smile.gif
