Hey,
I live in Brighton, England and have just joined up as a new member....
I hope that GMC gives me all I need to improve my playing.

I'm impressed so far and that's just the Sonic Youth style lesson....

I'm at an intermediate stage and own 4 guitars and 3 amps plus a few pedals.....

Hope to join or start a band but not holding out as 46 years old cool.gif

Any helpful advice on using this website would be great!

Cheers

Spence

Welcome Spence!

I think the best advice I can give you on using GMC is to try to get into REC as soon as possible.

This will give you direction in your practicing, and based on the feedback you get - as well as your own musical prefrences, you can decide exactly which lessons to tackle from the archive.

I personally believe this is the fastest and most enjoyable path towards your goals. Also, it ensures you choose a practicing path that is adapted to your own musical taste - not some random guitar instructor's.

Any time you get stuck or unsure, you should post a new topic here in our forum and we will all do our best to help you out.

Welcome again! biggrin.gif

Hi Spence! Welcome to GMC! I'm glad to know that you liked my Sonic Youth style lesson! There are some more indie rock lessons in my archive covering bands like Pixies, Strokes, Artic Monkeys, and also covering some Grunge bands that maybe you like like Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. All these bands have elements in common so you will enjoy the lessons and get a lot of them. However, Sonic Youth was so unique thanks to their use of different alternative tuning in their songs.

Besides the use of REC program, maybe you'd like to check my mentoring program which is called Gab's Army and where I help students with their guitar routines and practice.

And also, every Wednesday at 19 hs (London time) I do a live Video Chat session that can be seen live or later at the chat-room: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/chat/

I hope that you enjoy GMC!

Hi Spence - nice to meet you! smile.gif

Please let me know if you need any help with using the site, I'll be glad to give you a tour? smile.gif
You can send me a private message (or email : [email protected]) and I'll respond quickly.

Besides mentioned REC program (which I think rocks!), we also have some interesting community features such as recording collaborations. Here you can check out the latest one in progress: link

Collaborations work in a way that you download the backing track, record your jamming/improvisation over it and send over the files. In the end a unique piece of music is created by the community and its always a thrill to check out the final results and how it turned out.

Of course, I don't want to overwhelm you so please let me know if you have any specific questions about the site and we can take it from there. Also, if you need help finding some cool lessons - just let me know what you'd like to learn and I could send you some suggestions as I know the lessons archive quite well.

See you around the forum smile.gif
