Part 2? I am not sure which part you are talking about smile.gif

Hi Alex,
Congratulation on your video again- I really like it. It is so original! Really ground breaking! Cool.
Nowadays, I am trying to get back into my own groove.
Got myself a new guitar - An Ibanez AF105 NT - Niiiice!
I think it will be cool for backing.
Changed the bridge for a rosewood to get a richer tone. Did the trick.
Attached is a quick Blues I recorded today.
I tried to keep it dry on the backing to create a cozy dimension.
Now I have to get back on the Modes and get out of my traditional scales. (Got your point on last few posts!)
Backing is a classic I think.

Would appreciate your comments.

Man congrats on your new guitar!!!! I love the sound and it is amazing!!! I love the way you played it! Very well done!!!
Can you add some drums into your backing track so we can Jam over it? I will be giving you new ideas and will show you new tricks! smile.gif
Let me know!

Tried something - Not too fast for now. Defining a drum track was not obvious. I'll have to develop my skills in that area for sure.
Only gave it a little time. I am sure I could be more creative but I thought the idea was to get started on this new track for now.
Two tracks attached - one Backing only, the other with a quick fill in for soloing. (To be worked on for sure)
Any how, as usual, I would appreciate your comments.
Many thanks.

2nd Trial: Here is the the second track.

JPBluestring
Did another cut with a better drum track.
This might be more interesting.
Boogie style.
Will need to work on the lead to get out of the usual.
Thanks for your comments.

Decided to dust off the Bass tonight and added one track to it!
This is getting fun but I need to push up the lead definitively.
See 2nd cut.

Had to redo it but that's it for to night.
Thanks for listening.

Sounds amazing!!!! Very fat and nice sound!
So how about we will do jam back and forth over your track?
What is the chord progression?
JPBluestring
Blues or Boogie shuffle
I - IV - V - VI
I play E5 - A5 - B9 - C9

(E5 and A5 are played in open position with bass line progression on E string, same on A5 with progression on A string)
Rhythm is a steady roll

Thanks smile.gif

Great! Allow me a few hours to create a backing track for it so we can start jamming over this chord progression! smile.gif
I am glad you are using 5 chords because it is limitless and we can try a lot of different things over it!
JPBluestring
Anything wrong with my backing? see post 108 above?
Got a track from EZdrummer, added my rhythm and created a bass line with the Bass.

No it is a great backing!!! I will record my take in a few hours! smile.gif
JPBluestring
Sorry I should have included a backing track that loops more easily.
I think this one will likely be better for looping in the DAW.
Still learning I guess.

Awesome I did my take!
For the solo I have used 3 different pentatonic combinations!
I played different pentatonics over each chord
Over E5 I got E minor pentatonic in this position:

Over A5 A minor

Over B5 B minor

Over C5 I used G minor pentatonic close to E minor shape

If you can record your take using the same shapes would be awesome! wink.gif

JPBluestring
Oh my...
Did my take but I am not really satisfied with my backing.
There is a poor transition and that makes things difficult for adding a lead part when looping.
Anyhow, I guess this is something I have to learn to do.
I loved your lead - it was really inspiring (although challenging to follow!!)
Now I have to think about getting more creative if you see what I mean.
I would appreciate your comments.

Many thanks Alex.

You did a great job! I would suggest adding more drive to your sound or bring it a little bit up! smile.gif
Also let's try to start combining two pentatonics
We will do E minor and B minor pentatonics
That's what we will get:
E minor in this position

And B minor in this position

Try to combine them together and create licks using both shapes
for example:
This is a combination of all 2 pentatonics
It's almost a scale but a little bit different

Try it out and let me know how it feels! smile.gif
JPBluestring
Great!
Attached is a new cut wit a little more drive for the AF105NT
I like the idea of combining two scales like you suggest.
Working on it Master!

Many thanks Alex,..
But really we owe you!
I am just starting to understand what I'm doing on the neck! You know!
You're a beacon man! Your guidance is insightful. I feel the progress and I just LOVE IT!
I just wish I could get that sound - that distinctive sound,.. and be able to move from one scale to the other...just like you do.
When I listen to your work it is so unique, present, distinctive and creative!
Your approach to any song always gets us into new territories!
For this, I would like to thank you and recognize this moment... you are making a difference for me,.. and I am sure, for all of us!
(Gee I hope Kristopher reads this!!)

Alex you're the man! Thanks

JPB.

... and what you did for us last December 2nd was just fantastic!
While experiencing a power outage at your home.. and not able to broadcast your video chat session with us..
you went over board and borrowed a minivan from a friend to get to the nearest MacDonald to gain access to a wireless signal to do your lesson.. Man that was out of the ordinary period. (I hope Bogdan reads this!)
I thought... what a nice gesture, what a nice testimony of a truly artistic moment of thinking outside the box!!
You know what I mean,... we were just truly impressed by your "authenticity".

I rest! You have it!

While waiting for the next assignment.
REMEMBERING CCR - JPBluestring
I tried to do one that would loop nicely since the last one was hawful.
Cubase 6 recording- Yamaha Bass, Rhythm and Lead guitar Ibanez AF105-NT - Guitar Rig 5 effect - 120 BPM
I think I got it! In the style of CCR.
Just a groove to add a good lead - (Come on guys!)
We're getting there I think!
Thanks Alex for your guidance.

You did a great job! I would suggest to turn up guitar a little bit louder this way it will be up front and your lead will stand out more! Other than that great job as always! wink.gif

Yes you are definitively right! (as usual!)
With some tweaking on the mix down and a better balance between rhythm and lead guitars.
Here's a new take. (Same cut)
Makes sense. Thanks

How to present it ? _ I don't know quite frankly!
Here is my track after this morning's lesson.
Based on E min of course (definitely a minor!)
I tried to include the principles of harmonization.
I tried to combine scales the best I could while staying creative on the melody!
U be the judge once again!
I worked hard to get one that would loop perfectly.
Kept the lead up front as much as possible.
Gave it some time for the progression to be - allowing a silent here and there.
Balancing the rhythm and lead guitar to give it the right dimension. Worked a bit on panning.
I am sorry, did not include an arpeggio - but working on it.

This is a Salute to a true Guitar Master
Many thanks - sincerely,..
