Hey guys, I am buying this guitar.
http://www.cmcguitars.com/Jackson-USA-KV2-...g-v-kv2-sbd.htm But I am getting it modified in order to make it more versatile and better. I talked to a salesman and after a few e-mails, I have decided on these. - Duncan Jazz in the neck (add $75) - 5 Way Blade switch (add $10), positions are 1. Bridge Humbuker, 2. Bridge Single Coil mode (coil tap), 3.Bridge and Neck Pickups, 4.Neck Single Coil mode (coil tap), 5.Neck Humbucker - Knob Controls - Master Volume, with push-pull for additional gain boost (add $50) - Mid Boost, pushed down to be engaged and pulled up for off, EMG SPC (What would be other function to the push pull I can assign, any ideas) (add $50) - Master Tone, with push pull for phase splitter (add $20) - A Killswitch (didnt tell me the price for this) - Floyd Upgrades like trem stop and some other stuff the guy mentioned from http://www.floydupgrades.com. Not getting the Kahler, would charge $250 for that. He's taking $300 for all the modding and setting up everything. Questions 1. Should I change to the Planet Waves or Sperzel tuners or stick with the stock ones ? Any other nice mods you'd like to recommend, shoot 'em. I want this one to be special. Um... how do I add a picture in this post ? hehe This post has been edited by Yash: May 27 2012, 02:40 PM -------------------- |

Thanks Ben. Here are the stock specs of the guitar. Body: Alder Neck: Neck-Thru-Body Quartersawn Maple & Bound Fingerboard and Headstock Neck Dimensions: 3rd Fret: .775", 12th Fret: .835"” (Jackson Speed Neck profile) Tuning Machines: Sealed Die-Cast Tuners Fingerboard: Ebony with Compound 12” to 16” Radius No. of Frets: 24 Jumbo Frets Bridge Pickup: Seymour Duncan® JB™ TB4 Humbucking Pickup Neck Pickup: Seymour Duncan® JB™ TB4 Humbucking Pickup Inlays: Mother of Pearl Shark Fin Position Inlays Controls: Volume (Bridge Pickup), Volume: (Neck Pickup), Master: Tone Bridge: Floyd Rose® Original™ double-locking 2-Point Tremolo Pickup Switching: 3-Position Blade: Position 1. Bridge Pickup Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups Position 3. Neck Pickup Hardware: Black Pickguard: None Scale Length: 25.5” (648mm) Width at Nut: 1-11/16” (43mm) Should I get a Kahler 3300 or should I stick with the Floyd. I've heard that its difficult to palm mute on a Floyd Rose, but I've seen so many do it easily. What's the difference ??? And should I change the tuners ? If yes, which ones. Well, I am pretty certain that Gotoh 510's are the best tuning machines, but they are mighty expensive(for tuning machines). They average about $77.50 USD for a set of 6. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,...etal_Knobs.html I personally have never had a problem Palm Muting on a Floyd Rose. My bassist in my last band had some severe issues with it though. I think it just depends on how heavy handed you are. Quick !! To the longboats !! We've got some pillaging to do !! Runes would make far better inlays -------------------- All the elders have fallen down...

And should I change the tuners ? If yes, which ones. Personally I'd leave them alone since its got the nuts on the neck to lock it. -------------------- Guitars:

Wou! That guitar looks amazing man! It's like a beast!
I agree with Cosmin about modifications, I would try it first and check which things need to be changed before going for the modifications. I can't suggest to change the tuners because I don't know how those ones work. I installed "Schaller" tuners in my Les Paul and it has been a great decision. Do you have the possibility to try this guitar before buying? This would be also very important... to know how it feels, if it's comfortable for you and so... -------------------- My lessons

I have a RR24 Pro Jackson and I love it. I also like the floyd. There is no difference that I noticed palm muting with a floyd as to a fixed bridge.
