Iv owned a yamaha pacifica 112 for a number of years and am now ready too buy a new guitar. I want a really nice guitar that will be a joy too play. Im sure I want too buy a Fender Strat and am willing to spend upto £800 on it. With all the models out there iv very confused on which one i should get.
I love to play rock, blues and most of my favourite guitarists play Strats, John Frusciante being one of them. So i know a strat is perfect of the stlye of music i like. http://www.andertons.co.uk/electric-guitar...d-fretboard.asp http://www.andertons.co.uk/electric-guitar...d-fretboard.asp I like the fender american special HSS strats as well as the American Standards. I just don't know which guitar too get a pure strat? or somthing like the HSS It will be the only guitar i will play for a number of years so versatility is a must, im getting very confused and frustrated with all the chioces i have. And don't know a great deal about guitars so i don't want to end up getting the wrong guitar for me. Can anyone give me a little advise? |

My strat is SSS, but I must agree a HSS is way more versatile. It all boils down to the sound you dig, and the songs you wish to play with it. As far as I know american specials are the closest it gets to standards. Both of them look gorgeous... The choice is yours!

Simple as that. You have to go try a few models out. I think the amercal special is nice. A Standard is a step up, I'd have the pickups switched for stacked dittos. (stacked is humbucker solution in single coil format) But that's me. Like I said, I suggest you go out play different brands and models. -------------------- My bands homepage

If possible, go try and feel those guitars in a music store.
Feel wich one fits best (sound, feeling). That was the solution for me after long doubting! |

I advise you to get HSS Strat. Even if you get any of the modern Strat guitars, they all have body pickup cavities for HSH configuration (so later on you can insert hums, even if you have SSS). This is not a big problem at all.
American Special looks fine to me. I tried several in the store an they are all good. Just make sure you find the piece that will fit in your hand. Strat is a vintage style guitar and you need to play it loud in order to get a proper sound out of it. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
