This has been on the top of my mind probably even before i started to play guitar. It is difficult and even after 2 years of playing i still cant manage to to play artificial harmonics.
Ive already requested this lesson probably 1 month back but there is yet to be a response. The reason im pestering the instructors of GMC is that there are so many techniques that i found practically impossible and you swept past it in an hours practice session! No wonder you motto is... FROM ZERO TO HERO. Im sure with your help i can play it and show off in no time! lol So please please please make a harmonics lesson. Many lessons on GMC require this technique and im unable to do it (its sorta frustrating). THANKS, Aaron -------------------- _____________________________________________________

Because id really like to learn those. Anyways, i agree with jammer. We need some Harmonics lessons. I tried that lesson and still cant do it. Natural harmonics are easy (i learnt it myself): 1-You can only do it on the 3, 5, 12 and 19th fret 2- Lets say you wanna play a natural harmonic on the fifth fret of the G string 3-You place you finger very lightly on the fret wire between the fifth and sixth fret (sont press it, it should be a light touch as if youre resting your finger) 4-Then pluck the string normally 5-NATURAL HARMONIC CREATED 6-You can do it on other frets mentioned on step 1 on any string Hope this helped -------------------- _____________________________________________________

yea i know how to, but they wont come out. Must be because i wasnt trying on the frets you mentioned..Ill give it a try. Yeah you can only do em on a few frets mentioned above, not all.... Give it a try and tell me Yep, theres also one on the 7th fret. Ok, one thing that i noticed when learning to do pinch harmonics which now has allowed me to be able to do them is at first i thought it had to be pick THEN thumb. No, it has to be both at the same time. So what i mean is i used to be going pick string, then hit string with my thumb but it wouldn't work. now i do pick while thumb is touching string and wahey i get a squeely. Here's something you can try. Instead of straight away trying to do a pinch harmonic with your thumb instead trying doing it with something else. You can either try using your middle or ring finger to do it as those are both easier than your thumb or at first just try and do it with both hands. So like place your index or middle finger from your fretting hand over the string where your pinch harmonic is and pick to see if you get a squeely. This is so that you know how you should do them with your thumb or picking hand fingers. Once you can do them then you can start moving onto your picking hand and thumb. Also remember to use distortion with gain and preferably the bridge pickup as you get a higher squeel from that. Hope this helps I think youve solve my problem. Im gonna try it after i get my guitar restrung. I was using my thumb after i struck the string, not at the same time. Thx a lot steve. -------------------- _____________________________________________________

Let us know if you can do it when you get your guitar back, hopefully your problem is solved Dude you wont beleive this.... I got my guitar back and gave it a try and it wouldnt work. THen i strangely was holding my pick weirdly and started playing one of pavels alt picking lesson and all the notes were pinch harmonics!!!! I then found out that my thumb was sticking out from the side of the pick, not the front.... Thx steve!!!! -------------------- _____________________________________________________
