Hi Jesse I am very happy that you have decided to join!!! Here is a few questions! -What are your goals? -What is your weakness? -What is your strongest point? -Your favorite guitar players? I am looking forward to start mentoring you!
Hi Jesse I am very happy that you have decided to join!!!
No problem! Am looking forward to learn, and actually have free time to spend on the guitar... college is ending within the month so ill have loads!
Here is a few questions! -What are your goals?
I've got one uber goal: be able to play whatever I want to play - when I want to play it + be able to instantly improvise over any chord progression when I see one. That means that I want to be able to play super sweetly with great phrasing somewhat like Robben Ford, but also want to be able to put some shred runs in there like Eric Johnson or Guthrie Govan's fast stuff. Pretty much anything! I would love to end up being somewhere along the lines of Eric Johnson + Guthrie Govan + Robben Ford + Joe Pass + Kurt Rosenwinkel + Al Di Meola + Andreas Oberg.... I love the blues, jazz, fusion, gypsy, manouche, swing, western swing.... it's all great! On the shorter term, I would love to be able to play a bit more fusion, like you showed us/me last time in the video chat!
-What is your weakness?
My weakness is definitely hand synchronization, and moving around the fretboard fluently - I tend to stay in one or two positions when playing.
-What is your strongest point?
I'd say one of my strongest points is feel and phrasing, I love to create nice melodies and am somewhat able to do that!
-Your favorite guitar players?
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Angus Young(haha!) - Robben Ford - Andreas Oberg - Guthrie Govan - John Scofield - Matt Schofield - Joe Bonamassa - Rory Gallagher - Kurt Rosenwinkel - Ted Greene - Joe Pass - Masaaki Kishibe - Stephen Bruton - Albert Lee - Russ Barenberg. And I am sure I forgot loads!
I am looking forward to start mentoring you!
I am looking forward to it as well! Here is a video of me playing Hey Joe (there are more videos on my channel stratozenfan) which is a bit blues-shreddy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNkWFAfDfzw

Very nice playing on Hey Joe! Good job! So for the first assignment I would like to start getting into improvisation it's seems like your main goal! Here is a blues shuffle backing track! I will create assignments based on it! http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/rockshuffle
It's a standard blues in A so the chords are A7 - D7 -E7 I would like you to play: A minor pentatonic in this position over A7
Over D7 D minor pentatonic in this position
E minor pentatonic over E7
I would like you to hit all the changes try to be as melodic as you can and create some cool combinations of those pentatonics! Let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Hey ive got vacation on thursday, so Ill love to help with your new plan!
Hi Jesse how are you doing? Are you ready for a new challenge? I also wanted to let you know that on monday I will let you know about my instructional program and we can start working on it!
I find it hard to be happy with my takes! Because Im used to flowing around boxes, it's hard to go back to the more simple approach and make that sound good, which is a good thing to work on!

Hi! Do you remember I have been talking about a cool workout exercise? Here it is! It will help you to master modes plus will bring your alternative picking to the next level! Modes being used: F# Locrian - G major - A dorian - B phrygian - C Lydian - D mixolydian - E minor Here it is!
E ||----------------------------------------------3----| B ||-------------------------------------3--5--7-------| G ||o---------------------------2--4--5----------------| D ||o------------------2--4--5-------------------------| A ||----------2--3--5----------------------------------| E ||-2--3--5-------------------------------------------|
I would like you to start by getting use to those shapes and when you will be learning them try to call out notes it will help you to master the neck better! And here is a cool part of this exercise! I played a track and would like you to play along with me! This exercise will help you with picking technique! http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/modes-workout
