Hey guys,
It's been now 2 whole months since we started the SI lick of the day initiative after some requests put here on the forum. It started off to be fairly succesful in January, and I mostly received postive comments about it, which was very good to hear of course As in February the number of submitted licks was very minimal, we decided to wait for the competition and to include at least March as well, in order to make it a 'real choice'. I also decided that it would be a good idea to review the whole concept, and to either re-arrange it, or if it is completely clear that nobody likes it at all to wrap it up. Therefore, I would like to ask you all to answer the 3 questions in the poll above in order for me to get a better feeling regarding the initiative. I furthermore would like to ask you to comment on this initiative in this thread with suggestions for improvements, changes or reasons why it may be difficult for you to contribute. Any help on this is highly appreciated! Cheers! Roger -------------------- "Don't practice until you get it right. Practice until you can't get it wrong." I think it's a good initiative Roger but not enough visibility. Imo, I think it would be good to do monthly and have Andrew announce it during the shredcast, just a thought.

Thanks Skenny for the advices! Anyone else has some bright ideas? More votes would also be appreciated! -------------------- "Don't practice until you get it right. i think it's a great initiative, but the licks i have seen are waay to advanced for me.. most of january licks were too advanced i guess..
furthermore i have to set my priorities, and learning somewhat advanced licks is not in the top.. What i think would be really awesome is to have some sort of monthly genre.. lets say that april will be blues licks month.. may is rock.. june is metal.. july is shred heaven.. etc.. you get the idea.. that way people can specifically go after the ones they want.. again.. some of the licks i've seen are too advanced and way too long for me to bother (at this time), and i am affraid i dont know any to really contribute to it although if i could, i would. |

I like it, but don't know when I can contribute to it, but don't let the project die

I really liked the idea about accumulating a big resource of cool licks!
I think the pace was a bit too fast (daily posting) and somehow the discussion thread about the issue remained unnoticed. So I voted for a weekly schedule! And yup, it should definitely have a place in the upcoming shredcast (maybe some licks selected from the winner ones could be played there) -------------------- |
