Hi GMC, this is a solo based on the Brian May style of the song “El malo y el peor” recorded by my band Mala Medicina.
Mala Medicina is the band of Guillermo Sanchez and Javier Retamozo bass and keyboard players of the famous Argentinean band Rata Blanca, you can check the site if you want to (www.myspace.com/malamedicina ).
It’s in the A major scale. It has 3 big parts.
The beginning, is a full band phrase in A Major, the guitar track adorns the melodic line with some legatos.
The bridge is a rocker lick in the pentatonic E minor scale (the base change too). You can listen the vibrato of this part, is very cool.
And the Solo is in the A major scale. The style of Brian May is in the staccato and the vibrato of this phrase. It’s a Brian May’s lick that uses the arpeggios of some chords to create phrases.
A great resource in this style is the Harmony with the second guitar or bass that makes a very orchestral sound.
Tip: Don’t just play it like an exercise, feel every note!
Enjoy and see you in the next lesson!!!
