  • Hi GMC!
This is the first lesson in montuons series in which I will be demonstrating various way of playing montunos patterns. Montuno is specific way of playing harmony over afro-cuban and salsa music, and though it’s usually played on piano, sometimes it can be played on guitar and other instruments. In this example we’re covering complete II-V-I harmony using very few notes, and adding variations in each circle. Harmony beneath the example is very simple, C# min7, F#7, B maj7, E maj7, A#min7-5, D#7, G#min7, although the key is G# which isn’t very common.

    Enjoy!

    Regards!
