Hello GMC! Welcome to my fifth lesson. This lesson is part 4 of the series regarding Jazz and approach I use over this type of Jazz/Pop/Rock/Blues harmony.
The key of this piece is A minor, and around that A minor I use modal harmony. This piece uses combination of a lot of techniques. Play this slow until you are confident that you can move to faster tempo.
For the solo I used primarily scales and arpeggios (see the graphs bellow and in part 3 lesson!) as well as approach patterns (chromatic approach , diatonic approach etc).
In this lesson I tried to solo in style of Charlie Parker(traditional jazz, bebop), Mike Stern (modern jazz, fusion) and other Jazz Rock Fusion players.
When you finish this lesson hopefully you would have captured and mastered some of the following techniques:
- Alternate picking
- Economy picking
- Sweep picking
- Bending
- Straight rhythm
- Motive development
- Q & A type of phrasing
- Using arpeggios in solos
- Applying approach patterns in solos
- Double time rhythm
- String skipping etc
Equipment I used for recording my sound was: Custom built guitar (G. Papazoglou) with Pod X3 live going directly to computer.
Hope you guys will learn a lot from this solo. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments related to this lesson.
I look forward hearing your version of this solo on forums!
